Probably not, Phil, but a belated Happy Birthday to Her Majesty.

Wouldn't it be a hoot to find out that there was a Royal Elope !!!!!! :D

It will probably be played 900 times or more so, it is not on my "watch list" but....... my wife probably will.

I'll let my wife watch it and she can fill me in with all the details later.

Skargo, you're still around!

To be honest, I'm sick of the whole thing and really don't care............

Re: "THE" wedding

In today's paper they had a full page article, about local royal wedding "fans", complete with plastic tiaras and sipping tea.

Guess at one time, we all thought the "pet rock", was a pretty cool gift, too.

I hate tv, so I'm passing, but for the royal fans, I have to say - "enjoy".

I sort of feel sorry for the bride. She will never experience one minute of privacy, for the rest of her life.

I kinda lost interest in it about 2 months ago when, on the evening news, they discussed the superstitions surrounding the royal carriage they are going to ride in. Followed closely by what the dressmaker ate for breakfast that day.

Enough!

I've done my best to ignore it. When I was asked last evening whether I was planning to watch "the wedding" I can honestly say I didn't know what the person was talking about. My best to the couple, though.

Very good JB.
Most miss this date by a country mile, and think it the 2nd monday in June, being the day we all take a public sickie, go away for a long weekend, and get paid for it.

I won't watch it all but I do enjoy the Royal family, and appreciate the Queens non-biased excellent leadership.

Back in the early 70's I got invited to a Royal function and was amazed at the men in the family - namely Mount-Batten and Prince Phillip - very tall physically well built men - very interesting to talk too - engaging and affirmative.
Certainly impressed me.
Charles and Anne were there too, and I have always admired those two for their sporting prowess - Anne being an Olympian.
You guys probably aren't aware of this line, but after her driver and bodyguard were shot by an assassin, who then ordered her out of the car, and her answer was 'not blxxdy likely" and took off out the other door.
Anyway - apologies for digressing again!.

Cheers
Phillip

Re: "THE" wedding

I just started a post about how little I care about the Royal Wedding, then found this thread. Oh well.

Yep, this is one of those "I couldn't care less" situations.

Huge waste of time for an American, from my point of view.

What jmartin said.

It will be a boring day here. All week the news media will be talking about the wedding to be, it has already started and it is only Monday.

Re: "THE" wedding

SPOILER ALERT: William and Kate end up married at the end of the day. Not planning to watch it or the week's worth of coverage leading up to it telling us they're getting married or the week or two following to tell us that they've been married.

Re: "THE" wedding

I have all my life held Her Majesty in the greatest regard. A model of what royalty should be.

Her children have not always lived up to her example, but I really hope the next generation will.

I have a passing interest in "the" wedding, but I think the hysterical media circus has alienated many Americans. Too bad. William and Catherine will have to live with that, and they don't deserve it.

I was present when Lord Louis Mountbatten visited Gen. Marshall in my home town in the late 40s. What a regal figure! He would have made a magnificent King. I agree with you, Phil, about the Mountbatten (Battenburg) men.
