I have used the peramtex "the right stuff" when I replaced the oil pan on my car because that is what they use from the factory. I am thinking if it can handle that job maybe I should use it when I put my motor back together instead of buying and tracking down all the seals I will need. Any reason why this would be a bad idea?

I recommend you confine the "right stuff" to non-critical areas. Gasoline can disolve some of the permatex products, making them unsuitable for any carb work. Crankcases are too critical to take a chance. Headgaskets are much too critical and have extremes that permatex cannot handle. You can only use silicone on surfaces that are perfectly clean, and will have only exposure to oil.

"the right stuff" MIGHT work.
Gaskets DO work. Your gamble.

Re: The right stuff gasket maker

I understand about might work but I have to say this is not like silicone sealant. GM and other manufacturers use it from the factory in place of gaskets. Like my oil pan it had no gasket only this the right stuff and that is what I put it back on with that was 20k miles ago. I had to change the oil pan because I broke yeah that's right I broke it don't ask anyway this stuff seems pretty awesome. I comes out thick and sticky not like RTV silicone. Just thought I would see if any one else had used it and their impression of it. I think I will probably stick with the gaskets I can get my hands on but if I come across something that I can't get a gasket for I am using this stuff.
