what are the proper engine and i/o flushing times and procedures i do a lot of salt water fishing i just dont want any salt build up im currently flushing with the earmuff type for at least 10 min is that long enough or do i need to do it longer

First, time how long it gets to get fresh water comming out of the engine, then run it for that amount of time again. To test for whether or not it is freshwater, put some of the exhaust water on your hand and taste it for salt. (it maybe oily if you are running an outboard, but don't let that bother you). Others may have a better or more scientific response.

I watch my water temp and at 150 it opens up at which time I shut off a few minutes later.10 minutes is too long for me 5 minutes is Ok on my 29 foot 225hp CC Wellcraft.I flush after every trip.
