I was driving my boat to the summer storage place and this guy is parked across from me. I am surprised that people pay $40 a month to store this boat. Two boats on either side of me have trailer registrations from early 2000's and I haven't seen them move in the 3 years I have been using this place. Why not get rid of something if you are not going to use it.

Yeah same down here. The nice Chaparelle next to me never moves. There are always the same boats that never move in the storage place. Don't get it. Perhaps it broke the owner could afford the fix.

I often wonder the same thing. I see it with vehicles and RVs too. In the case of a boat like that, as a storage place owner I would ask the owner to at least maintain the thing so it does not look like the storage place is a dump. But for some, as long as they are getting their money each month......

I know a guy with one of those tour-bus RV's that isn't probably 10 years old and it never leaves its spot beside the building. Thing can't have more than 15K miles on it. That's a lot of capital to have tied up in something that never serves its purpose. Same thing happens with boats.

There is a early 70's Sea Ray at the lot up the road, been there so long the wheels have rusted off of it. Real sad, cause it is a beautiful boat.

I'm sure they stopped paying storage a long time ago and the storage owner just doesn't have a good way to dispose of it.

I was speaking to the owner today he mentioned they have run into that problem before though he acted like the people on either side of me were paying even though they had been there for years. One boat my mechanic felt bad for and wrapped it. Tires are flat one reg says 08 and other says 04.

x2 And I wouldn't at all be surprised if the owner acted like they were paying customer's. Insuating that people are paying, says "This junk is theirs". By admitting it's abandoned is saying "This junk is mine".

Some folks are just plain lazy. So lazy that they will allow payments to be made on storage because it's easier than getting off their rears to fix or sell the stuff.

There are at least 6 - 10 at my marina paying $120 - $260 each month. If they don't pay- the boat is sold. Same with those of us that own slips-- stop paying the HOA fees and foreclosure happens along with a lien against the boat.
