ok, besides the issue with tthe coupler being bad, the steering on this boat is brutally tight, 1st, the steering would not budge, at all, worked ok 1 day(out of the waster) then the next, would not turn at all, 1 inche, 2 hands on th ewheel, nothing, so we found the cable was stuck in the actuator, had to work that out, clean it up, greas it and reinstall, actuator worked fine, then we reconected to the drive and it was real hard, like 2 handed hard. i removed the clevis pin from the drive and the drive itself is stiff, had to push it with 2 hands to move side to side, so that eliminated the cable/actuator and p/s pump. i hav had units theat have slop in the swivel shaft but never had one lock iup like this, i called JR Marine and asked him if this is a candidate for the swivel shaft repair but he could not confirm this would be the issue. ass i said, no play in the gimbal. btw, this boat has a lot of rusty issue in the back end, thats why the coupler went. the rear moto mount bolts are so frozen up, i wm going to end up snappuing them or drilling them out. never saw that before, those boltds usually break loose and then you can remove them by hajnd. my bet is someone replacedd the lock nuts with a different metal nut. ill find out soon enough.
but i really need someone elses input on this tight drive
