In the Winter, I look forward to rain, sleet, hail and maybe snow (rare). It brings much needed resources to replenish the earth even though it also brings some suffering. Getting through winter is easier if I focus on the beauty and grandeur of new life that emerges in spring. Spring is that time of year when you're ready to get going again but it unpredictablity often gives you a lesson in patience. Then comes the summer and finally I can get to work on all those projects that just couldn't be done in winter and spring. Comming home from work knowing that I have at least 3 more hours of daylight makes it easy to work a little at a time to complete things rather than having to cram it all into one weekend. An then there is fall when the first cold snap hits and the sap stops flowing in the tree branches. Down come the leaves and soon the lawnmower will get it's annual maintenance and be put away for until spring. Is there any season that I like more than the others. Well, yes, I like summer the best but it wouldn't be much without fall, winter and spring.
It's fall now with winter just a month away. I have about one more acre of Sycamore and Apple tree leaves left to rake, I think I've got the lawns cut for the last time and my winter projects are finishing the raised garden beds, pouring a retaining wall, building a second workshop, building a new Pool house/bath/change room, replacing a couple of fences and getting the ground ready for spring landscaping. If that sounds like a lot of projects for a short period of time you're right but then that's why I look forward to next winter.
JB, you were right, feels much better to be thankful for the things we have rather than hate them.
