For a while I've thought of starting this thread. It's a place, for you, to post pictures of the most clueless boaters you can find.

My first entry is this guy.

This is at the end of a 15 min (NO WAKE) harbor ride. The green can on the right and then the red triangle on the left (but further away) those are the channel markers.

I pulled up to him and asked him if he was ok. He said "just taking a break, but thanks!"

I guess he didn't realize that he was anchored in the MIDDLE of a channel, sometimes large barges come through and there's a few paddle wheel boats too.

So here we are, clueless boater #1, on the hook, in the middle of the channel, at low tide, which means you really can't go anywhere else. .

and a sailboater popping the sail inside the channel.

I will post every single clueless boater I can get a pic of in here.

Clueless blogger #2.

Refer to Post #1.

Empty advertising sidebar on the right screws up all the pictures.

Oh wait, it's supposed to be clueless boaters.

In scooper's picture, I see people swimming at the ramp!!! and for 1974, the skullet on the guy in the back is right progressive.

In Jeffski's, I frankly don't see the problem in either: looks like plenty of room around the anchored guy, as long as he moves when a big one comes, and sailboats use the channels; some have to.

HA!!! Nope. Check out my avatar, that is about what I look like now.

Location is Mayflower Park, Blythe, CA circa July or August 1974. I still have a beer in my hand, but cannot for the life of me find a T-shirt, even in adult size, that just says BEER...

It's illegal to anchor in a harbor when you have a perfectly working boat. Also, look closely there's two green cans on the right side. If you went to the right of those cans, you're grounded, there's only 1 ft of water there at low tide, as it was.

sorry, I still see plenty of room. And here, in the world's largest natural harbor, there are designated ships anchorages everywhere, where working ships anchor for days, although one wouldn't anchor a pleasure boat for any length of time in the main shipping channels. So I wouldn't say it's illegal to anchor in a harbor, although it can be illegal for adults to wear clown masks.

That cannot be true. Really? A channel sure, a harbor no way.

Sorry I mis-spoke - he was in the middle of the channel. Sure the pics make it look like there's plenty of space, but on either side of the channel it's only 1 foot deep at low tide, which it was approaching at the time of the pic!

Re: The Clueless boater thread (Post pics if Possible)!!!

I think some people just don't know how to read. At a local ramp there is a sign that states NO FISHING FROM DOCK OR RAMP. There is a small wooden dock, I think it was built by a local fishing club, that people are always fishing from. The area around the ramp is rock. It doesn't really bother me because my boat is aluminium and I'll just gently land on the rocks. But you should see some of teh guys with fiberglass boats get mad at the people on the dock. There is lot's of bank area at this launch for people to fish, I guess they want to get farther out.
