Well there are those people out ther that need that extra reminder, because they dont have and common sense:facepalm:
That's darn good! Need another sign saying: Please check/prepare your boat in the STAGING area, NOT at the LAUNCHING ramp!
Signs signs everywhere signs ... To make that one truly effective you'd need to add "before you put the boat in the water" to it. And print it in espanol. Perhaps add a picture of a smiling, absurdly multi-ethnic, 'family' installing their plug? These go right along with the sticker on the lawn mower saying to not use it as a hedge trimmer.
Ok that is just silly to say. Common sense has nothing to do with putting the plug in. Everybody will forget it as some point and in the states that require you show up with your plug out of the boat, this is a good reminder. The bigger problem to me is that we are now told we can't put our plug in ahead of time.
Why can't you arrive with your boat's plug installed??? I've never heard of this.
You will find out soon enough bud, but since you don't know I will give you a heads up,
In areas where the Zebra and Quagga Mussels are invading, the Authorities have a checklist of items to check for water in all trailered boats and I mean they stop you at the ramp approach before you can reach the ramp, just the usual stuff live wells, anchors, water in the hull, even if it is just rain water and the outdrive must be drained as well. The process of decontaminating your boat is a 130+ degree bath for the inside of the hull and any areas that are wet. Now you may wonder why the plug has anything to do with it, well it is presumed that if you haul your boat without a plug then the hull is dry and therefore move on to the next item. If you do show up with the plug in they are supposed to visually inspect the hull, any moisture and they are required to decontaminate, so yes you could show up with the plug in but be prepared to be decontaminated which normally isn't so bad, just a 15-20 minute delay but I can tell you I had one time where they held me off the water for 4 hours because the Hottsy was out of propane and they had to go buy more, never again.

In some states, at least MN, it's illegal to transport your boat with the plug installed.
