Us islanders look forward to watching all these sail boats every year. With the moon as beautiful as it was I'm sure they had a beautiful night.

They leave out of Seabrook pass by Galveston and head down the coast to Port Aransas.

Port Aransas is a quiet little island mid-way down the vast Texas Gulf Coast well known for great tarpon fishing, beaches, and very good seafood restaurants. One could paint a picture of Port “A” by imagining what Key West must have looked like 40 years ago. This small but growing village welcomes some 2000 sailors from our “Harvest Moon Regatta”, also known as the “Rum Regatta”, each year during the full moon of October. This “Third Coast Happening” ranks as the largest offshore regatta being sailed point to point in US coastal waters. Hosted by Lakewood Yacht Club, Seabrook, Texas, the race covers an off shore distance of 153 nautical miles from Galveston to Port “A”, Texas. October 5,6,7,and 8 are the dates for this the 20th Harvest Moon Regatta that anticipates another 275+ yacht regatta.
