Got a new rectifier installed today for my '75 merc 650. Put it on and checked voltage at the battery on slow idle----12.7 Volts, at fast idle----12.9 volts. I'm very pleased! This motor now runs/shifts great, starts easy after a choke solenoid shim, doesn't leak water into the lower unit, and now charges the battery. Not bad for a 34 year old motor!
Thanks for the help. If you don't mind, if it should be charging more, let me know. Anyway, the voltage was DROPPING at fast idle before the rectifier change, so I believe she's fixed.
Later,
Jason
