Living on the beautiful Oregon Coast definitely has it pluses but, the bad part is that every summer, the roads are clogged with 100,000 RV'ers doing 12.5 mph. Makes it almost impossible to get anywhere. Hopefully with the gas prices so high this year we may get a break from the "road slugs".

Tongue planted firmly in cheek. The tourists are our biggest industry, and it is going to hurt.

Well look at this way,If not for the visitors spending money the local economy might dry up from a lose of money and then the taxes would go up . Or more people could decide to relocate there .

What's really great about the high gas prices is how quickly you can put gas into your car. Used to take me 5 or 10 minutes to get $20 worth. Now it takes about 30 seconds! I feel like I'm an Indy 500 pit crew or something .................:):):)

Erik,
My parents just dragged the fifth wheel down and back up the 101... and... 12.5 mph would be fast for them. :p

I used to drive the roads crossing from I-5 to the Oregon coast all the time. I figured the logging trucks would push all the slow pokes along!

In the good old days, unless you were Jimmy Clark at the wheel of a new Ferrari, you couldn't keep out of their way!

Did'nt know that you and Roscoe were kin, perhaps some of the membership may want to send their prayers in that direction. :p:p :D:D

Getting ready to retire better be nice to me or I’ll buy a geezer mobile, get on the Sawgrass at Corral Springs, in the hammer lane, just to annoy you. :D

....and that is the absolute truth. I remember driving up thru the NW in the late '50's thru mid '60's. There was no interstate then. Those logging trucks would get on your tail and push you to your limits. Mind you, these were often roads that were only one lane each way and they were thru the mountains.

In retrospect, it kind of reminds me of the Dennis Weaver movie, Duel.

Yeah, the logging trucks around here amaze me. I've seen them take corners faster than I would take on my Ducati. Got me thinking that if I wanted a really good handling vehicle, I'd sell the Ducati and get me a big ole' 18 wheeler with about 200,000 lbs. of logs on the back:) .
