Re: Texas Sharking
Fly Rod. I can't bring up your links but shark fishing is a big thing here in the surf on Galveston Island. I've only done a little surf fishing because I don't like to step on stingrays or have crabs bite my toes. And, if you carry live bait in a bucket on your hip sharkes are known to attack it. They run back and forth between the three sand bars and are plentiful. They are the reason I no longer swim in the ocean.

I know people who shark fish from their boats just outside the sand bars. Then shoot the sharks in the head before they bring 'em on board. Its bad enough when I have to beat a Kingfish in the head with a small bat to keep him from thrashing around in the boat. I can barely stomach that. Besides I am very leary about eating shark and I only keep what I plan to eat. Sharks have to be 'bled' and if its not done right the urine gets into their bloodstream and into the meat and can make you extremely sick or worse.

I've caught large shark offshore before by accident. I catch smaller ones in the bay all the time, but I cut my line. I don't even want them on board.

They are a thrill to catch since they are ALL muscle and will give you the fight of your life. But catch and release for me.
