Is anyone familiar with boating from Galveston to Corpus area along the intercoastal? Is it a cruise that can be done in a smaller boat? Any ideas on finding resources like marina locations, etc?

Re: Texas Gulf Coast boating

I have just brought a boat to Houston from Corpus. We ran up the intercoastal all the way. It took two days and was a great trip. You have to cross several bays but no big deal. There are several river locks and draw bridges- they orginally worried us but the barge operators were a lot of help to us. Be sure to have a vhf radio and the barge operators are very willing to help. There are several places to get fuel, food, etc. There are also a lot of marinas along the way. It would be best to have a fuel range of about 75 miles though. We were nervous at first but it ended up being a great trip!

David,

Thanks for the information. What size boat did you make the trip in? Did you overnight in the boat at a Marina? Did you have any maps, charts, guidelines for the trip - if so where did you get them? Thanks again.
