There are three kinds of kill switches as well. Normally closed, normally open and one with terminals that allows wiring in either configuration. The type you need is for a magneto ignition which grounds the ignition to kill the engine so you need the normally closed. Sounds backwards but normally closed means the contacts are closed when the lanyard is pulled, not when it is installed.
