I just installed a rebuilt lower unit (with new impeller) on my '73 Johnson 115. Considering this model doesn't have pee holes to visually see the water stream cooling the engine, what is the best way to verify the effectiveness of the water pump when hooked up to the hose?

run it on muffs and watch the water come out the exhaust, through the prop. or if its in the water, watch the water come out the two exhaust relief ports just below the powerhead.
