Testing power packs ?

I though I saw a sticky for help testing
Power packs? and can't find it now, any help appreciated! 83 gt150

The way I was fetched up you check all the outputs around the pack and if they're good you replace the pack.

I do it boobie's way, too. One nice thing about the 83 is that you can swap the two power packs for testing purposes. Sometimes that's a time-saver.

Sorry, technical difficulties. Yes thanks emdsap & boobie, I did the diode test on the packs and they both passed. Don't have a peak voltage adapter to do the rest of the tests. Reason Im suspect of it is the port side has recently been replaced, and it looks like the starboard is original, and my starboard plugs are always way more sooty and wet than the port side. Still chasing idling issue, cant get the idle to smooth out and sustain without having timing too far advanced. So much slop in the linkage on these things... So at this point Im gonna swap the packs and see if problem follows? Thanks again guys!
