Have a 1989 Merc 90 T/T unit. 3 wires present, black-blue-green. Looking for a way to test unit. Is black ground and green/blue + for trim and tilt? Thanks!

Black is the ground, blue should go to the up solenoid, and green to the down solenoid.

Schematic, these wires come from the trim/tilt motor itself.

Fouled plug.....

most reversable dc motors fall into these two styles. an ohm-meter will tell you which one you have. REMEMBER!! if you connect 12v directly across the armature, or directly across the fields by accident.........smoke!

Good luck man...
