Testing 2 wire tilt/trim motor

I just picked up a used tilt/trim assembly. Before I install it I want to test the motor to make sure it spins. Anybody have any suggestions on how to do that with the motor off the unit?

One wire to a battery negative, the other to positive. Reverse the wires to make the motor run the other way.

Thanks for the reply. After looking at the repair manual for about 30 seconds I was able to figure it out. Now I have other issues.
