Re: TerraServer...

Ok, ok, maybe I need to get a life, but that is the most amazing web site I have ever seen.

I zoomed down to a lake 33km NE of San Antonio, Texas. I could see roads, houses, individual trees etc. Unbelievable. Definetly not a map.

Hey snapper, go outside, look up & smile. :D

Aldo

Re: TerraServer...

The map of my area is actualy quite old me thinks... Much of the new direct I-95 to the airport terminal road is'nt shown, and that construction's been going on for quite some time...

Re: TerraServer...

I zoomed into my house, which I purchased in 1993. The view does not depict a structure that was there in 1993, therefore my view is older than eleven years.

Although, it was fun to try to find. Thanks :>)

Quite awsome. You can see my Suburban with it's black cargo box. On the other side of the gate, you can see my boat with a brown cover. If someone had been in the pool, you'd a been able to see them.

I tried to find a friends house in Los Angeles. Those pictures were taken in 94/95, were black and white and not near as close as the ones taken in 2002.

http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.aspx?t=4&s=8&x=10494&y=101234&z=10&w=1

Re: TerraServer...

How come some maps of areas are clearer than others. I can see my street but not like Link or Boomyal

Re: TerraServer...

I could only get my photo down to 1 meter resolution. Some are down to .25 which gives a clearer and closer image.

Interesting.... Here's my neighborhood in Richmond, VA.
http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/addressimage.aspx?t=1&s=10&Lon=-77.57506878&Lat=37.60026310&Alon=-77.57506878&Alat=37.60026310&w=1&opt=0&ref=A|1226%20Blue%20Jay%20Ln,%20Rich mond,%20VA%2023229

But, there is a problem that I see: I don't live where the red "thumbtack" is (center of photo). That's Jerry's house across the street on the corner. Look closely, go diagonally north (left) across the street. I am the third house from the main road (1st house has a bright sunshined roof, 2nd house does not (shaded from front yard tree), and the 3rd house does). I live right there at the 3rd house from the main road (Farmington). If you're ever in Richmond, VA, stop on in! :)

Butch A.

Re: TerraServer...

You used to be able to go to terraserver.com and zoom in nice and close...unfortunately now that site doesn't even get you as close as msn's without forking over some $$'s.

Here's my house (just above the red tack):
http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/addressimage.aspx?t=1&s=10&alon=-75.65834695&alat=43.14599763&w=1&ref=A%7cMills+Rd%2c+Durhamville%2c+NY+13054&Lon=-75.65563891093333&Lat=43.1 476784368

And here's zoomed out to include the great Oneida Lake:
http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/addressimage.aspx?t=1&s=16&lon=-75.8816109833333&lat=43.23238830425&alon=-75.65834695&alat=43.14599763&w=1&ref=A%7cMills+Rd%2c+Durhamville%2c +NY+13054

Re: TerraServer...

Ive been messing with terraserver for a few years, way befor 9/11, you used to be able to zoom closer than you can now, probably because of the terroist threat. I could see a dog in one one time, no more.

Re: TerraServer...

johnson-liner.. LubeDude

Your correct, I had forgot about that. I have a CD mapping program from 96 and it really gets into details. IE: a small fishing creek that only locals know about miles from any road. A friend bought the same program 2 years ago and it only gets down to the street level.
but But BUT this is still fun to get a look at where people live. And you can even let the kids see as we arn't looking each others scarey mugs! :D
