Hey everybody ,I am new here and have already looked thru previous threads for an answer but no luck . So here is what I have .I bought a Sears gamefisher 3.0 model # 298-586191 ser.#6003628 The motor started and ran perfect , but had gas pouring out of the carb , suspect , a stuck float , I was unable to get to it right away so it sat in my garage for a few years until recently I bought the whole carb rebuild kit and totally took the carb apart cleaned and replaced all the parts that came in the full kit .I get it back together making sure the float and the main needle are set right . I try to start it and no luck , spray starting fluid in carb and some times I can get a couple of pops , but not every try. I check the spark and I have a very good big bright blue spark on every pull. I took a compression reading and I get 61 on the first pull and then on second pull it goes up to 90 but will not go past 91. I see fuel coming up on the needle when I work the throttle ,new plug gapped correctly. Does the compression sound good ? and could it be a timing issue , if so how do I check for this ? Thanks for any info in advance , John. Oh , I also pulled the cover on the exhaust and checked for carbon blockage looked okay , cleaned every thing anyway but did not make a difference.
