Have a 1989 Merc 175, the impeller has been changed and the pop off valve cleaned. When running at WOT the motor runs cool but when I'm at idle speed it runs hot. Any ideals? Thanks

Was the pump housing sealed with sealant between the imp chamber and exhaust chamber

When was the last time you changed the thermostats and cleaned the housings?

Re: Temperture question

when the impeller was changed. was it just the impeller? was it a housing kit? was the lower base inspected for signs of melting? was the upper housing melted ? this is in addition to checking the rest. :)

Re: Temperture question

I have a 1988 Merc 175, with a recent impeller and it acts the same as yours.

Somone mentioned that that this is how these run, but I have never recieved conformaton on that.

When I get up to 3k RPM or over on mine it cools right down.

Do you have a temp gage with numbers or just Cold - Hot?

-Jack-
