I was wondering where to start if the temp gauge doesn't show any movement when the engine warms up. I didn't let it run too long when i didn't see the gauge moving so it wouldn't ruin anything. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Good Morning
You migkt want to check for loose connections at the gauge. If everything looks good re place the temp
sending unit at the motor.
Beef :D

What type of boat do you have? What engine? It could matter. Like TheBeef says, check the most simple things first, wiring from the sending unit to the guage. Check for loose connections. Check fuses if any. Mine wasn't heating up and I traced it to a broken Thermostat in the engine. Donwon

If the Wire is removed from the Sending Unit, usually mounted on or near the T-Stat Housing, And is Grounded to the engine Block,.......
The Gauge Should Peg Out.....

If you were Just Testing on a Garden Hose,...
The engine possibly never built enough Heat to register.......

Btw,..... Welcome to the forums here at iboats,.........
And,... As stated above,.... A Couple paragraphs of Info,+ Background on Just What we're working On,....
Really Helps.............. ;)

Re: tempature

i would check the thermostat, if its faulty or if it has been removed then the needle on your guage will not move and if it does then only slightly, this is a shortcut remedy some cowboys use if an engine is overheating problem is that it never heats up enough to perform properly.
