Hi all,

Kinda a newbie here and have some questions.

I got twin 1985 200hp rudes, the tempature sending units for the motors adjust by screwing them in till they just touch the head correct?
And should the paint be removed for a more acurate reading where they contact?
And how much should I tighten them after initial contact?

I know the gauges work grounded them all out and they pinned to max.

any input would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance.

O-K,
I had to read your question a coupla times but the answer is yes, the sending units should make good, solid contact with the head(s)and the paint should be removed. I doubt if the screw is an adjustment, it's just to insure the sensor is in good contacy with the head.

c/6

Hooty

Frankie-100***x once made a good suggestion to use heat sink / thermal grease to make a good thermal connection between the sending unit and the engine block. It's available at Radio Shack in tubes, or you should be able to get a dab of it from a friendly computer shop.
