temp switch

need a little help plz i need to test the switches what is the best way to do this without the motor running i have two switches it's a Johnson 200 TXL77C

There's a procedure in the OEM Factory service manual on how to do it.

Is it a factory manual or something like Clymer or Seloc ? If it's factory there should be some dates or model yrs on it.

yes it's the 1977 service manual orange on top than white says for 175hp tx77 txl77 and 200 hp tl77 txl77

Sorry about the misunderstanding. I thought you were talking about about the temp senders that came with the mtr. I have no idea how to check those out. Maybe somebody else will chime in.

Dude that is a added surface mount temp sensor, you can get a gage for it here and new sensor if you want http://faria-instruments.com/store/index-mart.php?cat=Temperature Sender, they are real good so you can run to guage to read Farenheit/Celcius. The wire coming out in the top left corner is your other that just gives off a horn sound that is on most johnsons. Just google T5026 and look at the image .
