Hi all,
I have a couple problems I am trying to work out. First my temp gauge dont work, it may be the gauge, but I thought I would change the temp sensor first, can someone tell me where it is on a 5.0 mercruiser.
Next my up trim button on my controls dont work, I can use the trailer button (switch), but not the regular up button, I have the quicksilver control. Can I get the buttons replaces or buy a new switch. I am not sure if I can just replace them without getting a whole new control.

First thing needed is to know what year and model engine and drive you have.

The temperature sender is just to starboard of the thermostat housing on the intake manifold.

Alpha or Bravo drive?

My guess, is you have an Alpha I Gen II since it's a 92 model.
Here is a link with the Mercruiser troubleshooting chart (With wiring diagrams) to check out the trim system. My guess is you have a bad trim limit switch on outdrive, but the troubleshooting chart will point the way.

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/14/14c1.pdf
