Temperature alarm goes off on Mercury 150 H.P. V-6 out board as soon as key is turned to on position. What appears to be a thermocouple is mounted at rear of cylinder block, wire coming from device is frayed, when part of device was remove a spring was found. This probably is source of problem, my question is how do you remove device from block and how do you replace or repair it ? My Clmer manual does not help out.

Re: Temp Alarm

hi I have a v6 merc 200 and I replaced this sensor on mine, it is a temperature sensor and it costs about 15 dollars canadian for a new one, there should be a flange with two 1/4 bolts holding it in.The sensor actually sits in a well and the spring is actually part of the sensor (inside).the alarm you are hearing is the temp alarm.Have you recently over heated the engine? as that is what happened to mine and had to replace ,hope this gets you going

------------------
