Telltale/pisser

I recently purchased a 1989 Mariner 2hp 2 stroke. I was able to get it started and ran it in a barrel of water. I saw no water coming from a telltale/pisser. My question is, does this model have a telltale/pisser? I purchased a repair manual but was unable to discern anything. The manual covered many different sized motors.

Any help is much appreciated.

Mark

Model: 2M
Code: 6A1
Serial: 135369

Roll it in flour and look for the.... oh never mind. :D

But seriously, I'd do the waterpump just to be sure. And look inside for a hose that leads to the lower cowel to find the telltale assuming it's got one.

-W

I went to the Merc parts page here:

Mercury Parts Express

Didn't see anything that looks like a telltale. Not too uncommon for the smaller motors to not have one....

Re: Telltale/pisser

I am having trouble finding parts for this motor. I followed the link in the post above and entered the serial only to be told that it was an invalid serial number. I then went to a parts supplier and was told that although the motor is sold as a mariner it was made by another company.

Does anybody know where I can find more information about this motor? In particular I need to find an impeller and housing for this motor.

Thanks,
Mark

Model: 2M
Code: 6A1
Serial: 135369

I seem to remember the 80's Mariner 2hp being a rebadged Yamaha.

markatmfasis,

That engine number sounds more like a Tohatsu serial number. If I was you I'd post in the Tohatsu forum for "internetoutboard" he's the resident Tohatsu guru!! :) Hope this helps
