Tell-Tale Water Temperature?

I replaced the entire water pump assembly on a 1975 7.5hp Mercury. The water stream coming out of the tell-tale seems warmer than other small outboards that I have used. Not too hot to touch, but definitely in the higher range of what I would consider "warm" to be. Any info out there on what the temperature range for this would be?
Thanks!

Re: Tell-Tale Water Temperature?

I didn't see a thermostat listed in the parts breakdown, and when I blow air through the tell-tale tube it flows pretty freely. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

If using ear muff's to test the motor out of the water if you do not have them fully over the intake I have seen the water get pretty hot due to it not getting enough water.

I'm running it in a tank, and I should have said so. It's not so hot that I can't keep my hand under it, but I woud say that it is around 110 degrees.

Re: Tell-Tale Water Temperature?

Update: I blew out the cooling system through the tell-tale with compressed air like I had done before and also shot some air into the "flush" port. For some reason it seems to be running at a cooler, more normal temperature.
