All - first off, it's a nissan 4 stroke 18hp. i'm stumped, wasn't getting water out of the tell tale so i ordered a new impeller kit and replaced. also found bits of sand/rock in the tell tale hole and removed. muffed the motor, started it up and still now water out of pee hole. i've checked the hose going from engine block out and it's clear.

any ideas? what can i try next? or do i have to take the actual engine apart at this point? will forcing water down the tube (either direction) do anything?

thanks
Kurt

try it in the water instead of on the muffs. its not the same on the water hose like it is in the lake. You also may not be running it long enough for your thermostat to open. If your thermostat is stuck closed it would also cause this. hope this helps

While running the engine stick a small piece of wire up into the pee hole all the way into the block. Usually a build up of debris and sediment clogs up the indicator. The thermostat being open or closed will not effect the pee indicator.

thanks guys. it's good to go now, bought a plug adapter and ran water through it for 10 or 15 minutes, put thermostat back in, fired it up w/ muffs and a strong stream.

EDIT 12. Please do not post to threads that have been inactive for more than 3 months UN-LESS you are the original poster. We have very active forums and any thread that remains inactive for that long should be considered "dead". It is especially confusing when there is an entirely new question posted to an old thread. This is considered a hijack. Please start a new thread of your own.
