Since now I'm going to become much more acquainted with it, I believe. Yesterday, unbeknown to me, one of my dock bumper lines had broken away from the dock and floated right into my prop, while I was warming it and gathering the Admiral. We loaded up like normal, and the being the dummy I am, I didn't check the prop as there's "never anything there" (duh). Put my little baby into gear and she dies immediately. What's going on here? Must not have been warm, right? So, I proceed to repeat that process.....probably a total of 8-9 times. What the heck?!?! Finally, the Admiral looks behind us and says, "Is there supposed to be a rope tied to the back?" Yikes!!! Shut it off, rush to the stern, and I see the rope. I wasn't smart enough to recognize that we'd stopped drifting, since said line was actually holding us in place. Got her tied back to the dock and proceeded to un-wind the line. So, off we go to try this again. This time, put her in gear BEFORE I untied and all was "well". I did notice that as we're idling down the channel, I felt a smidgeon of a vibration but thought that might be my mind playing tricks on me. She's doing fine, it's about 1/2 mile or so till we get out of the no-wake zone, and I punch it.....
Up on plane, pretty much like normal, EXCEPT I notice she's revving up over 5200rpms, which I know isn't right based on throttle travel. Then I notice at my normal, 4700 rpm she's only running about 25mph-ish. It was rough out there, so we headed back in relatively quick and I came home and started searching here at iboats. That''s when I learned the words, "Spun Hub". So, after more research, I found out my 1995 Force 120 with the Mercury lower unit has the Flo Torq Hub and I've come to the conclusion that I did, in fact, "spin it". I've found the "kit", but I'm wondering, do I need the entire kit or can I just buy the plastic hub itself? The difference is $49.00 vs. $19.00. AND, is this something a below average intelligent person can replace or is it pressed in somehow?
