Hello Guys!
I want to ask If there is any way to lube or "grease" a Teleflex Cable. My boat is a Galstron SSV190 with a 1993 Mariner Outboard. Actually it use a rack steering system with 2 teleflex. Any Ideas?

Thanks

This may seem alittle hoaky but it works really well.

Take a heavy plastic bag and cut the corner off just big enough to fit the cable through, stich the cable in and tape it really well then put whatever oil you are using in the bag and suspend it from a roof joist.

I got a drill on mine and spun it so the wind of the cable would pull the oil through, a couple minutes and the cable is lubed.

You ask.

That's an innovative method of lubing the cable by 5150abf. My personal experience is that by the time a cable needs lube, its got wear. The wear shows as a slop in the helm because the sheath is worn allowing the inner cable to bunch and slop around inside.

You can try 5150abf's lube technique, but if after its sloppy, its time to replace it.

IIRC they are a SS core that runs in a nylon liner. NO lubrication is required, should be run dry.

I can tell you that both the cables on my boats have lube on them OEM. And a new cable I have still in the box came with lube on the cable. So I have to say that they do seem to come lubed by Teleflex.

You are right about them being nylon core, I have cut cables up to make removing easier, and they are nylon inside. Can't say if the wire core is stainless though, they just look black and greasy.

Guys
You have to see this video, this answer my question, If this doenst "soften" my steering then its time to replace the Teleflex. Im not a cheap guy regarding my boat but definetly I will try this before buy the cables. Any way I add a few links regarding this issue., Also can I change this system to a single cable? The outboard is a 1993 Mariner 115HP 2 stroke. Please comments.
Thanks

Ayuh,... Ditto what Mark said,....

krakatoa,... Pull your cables out of the motor's tilt tube,+ the steering wheel should turn Effortlessly...
Also Clean,+ relube the tilt tube,.. Your's looks like it's holding some Rust,+ crap...
If that fixes your issue,... Great...
If not,...
I'd replace the cables....
Btw,...
Dual Cables are much Safer,...
But,.. You might be able to convert to a single cable,... Donno...
