teleflex no-feedback steering

I have a teleflex no-feedback rotary steering hub turning my Mercury 150 outboard. The system is 2 years old. When new you could let go of the wheel and the motor would continue straight. Now releasing the wheel causes it to torque steer to the right, even at idle speeds. Is there anyway to correct this without replacing the head. I have adjusted the trim (torque) tab without success. It seems the "no- feedback" has worn out. Thanks

Howdy, DMiller.

I am not familiar with your engine, but most big outboards have an adjustment in the pivot that sets the amount of force required to turn the engine. It's sort of a friction brake.

Good luck. :)

Wow! I think you are correct in thinking it is worn out. The no feedbck system should continue to operate as new. If it torques (especially at idle) I would replace it ASAP! Ever been in a boat that loses steering at speed? It's no fun. Trust me.

Call T'flex and see what they say. I know some of the guys there and I'll bet they are very interested in your safety.

Good luck!!
