My motor is a 1982 70 hp evinrude, E70ELCNB
I just bought these controls, but they do not match my setup.
Teleflex 479 Series Johnson/Evinrude/OMC Control Cable
...OMC and Johnson/Evinrude style single lever controls found on 1979 to current models.
Teleflex 479 Series Johnson/Evinrude/OMC Control Cable
I bought the motor rebuilt years ago, am I right to assume that maybe my power pilot control box is earlier than 1979, so the current replacement cables I need are actually the teleflex 400 series?
Teleflex Control Cable for Johnson, Evinrude & OMC
Here are some pictures of my current old cables I want to replace. Notice the cables themselves are a bare wire at the end, attached to the plastic arm by a set screw rather than an all-in-one like the Teleflex 479 Series.
If I know for sure the 400 series is what I need I'll return these, otherwise it looks like I can rig the connection at the control box and it should still work. I only question if thats what I need because the image appears to show something bulbous at the end of the wire, where mine is just a clean wire if you remove the set screw (checked only at the control side).
