I have an old Sears 7 HP outboard Ted Williams model #217-59440. There is no spark, it is a solid state ignition system. I checked the resistance in the coil and it has an open circuit. I am looking to find a coil for this motor and cannot find a replacement for it. I have checked the Sears web site and a few others with no success. I am wondering if you can swap this coil for a different one from another outboard or small engine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

look through this forum. Under one of the threds about Eska engines, somebody mentioned an online store that sells parts for old engines -- I think it was jackssmallengines.com but I don't remember for sure.

d:eek:)

Just found another one:
www.discount-marine-parts.com

Hope this helps d:eek:)

Re: Ted Williams 7HP with no spark

I was able to find a coil at the following http://home.earthlink.net/~brixent. They have quite a few Eska parts. This website has a list of availbe parts sorted by p/n, so it helps to know the p/n of what you are looking for. I was able to find the p/n for the coil I was looking for at the Sears website. The one downside is that the coils are very expensive, $85. This kept me from purchasing one, seems like a lot of money to put into this outboard.

I hope this helps,

Scott
