Ted williams 7.5 Horrible noise.

Ok I was going wot. Then the motor reved extramly high. So i cut the throttle.

Heres what i have.

It starts and runs perfect. Hit the shift lever and it makes a hellish noise and the prop turns but slow. Sounds like somthing is broken up high.

Turn motor off and turn the prop by hand. It turns but hesitates. Like notches in the spindle. The shear pin is bent in a s shape.

Should i look up high or at the gear case ??

What could be wrong ?

If it runs fine in neutral, it would seem that everything is OK from the top down through the driveshaft. That would indicate something is broken in the gearcase.
