I am having a problem finding an idle adjustment screw/spring for my 217.59310 1971 5HP motor. At the Sears parts page it's number 24 but they no longer carry it. The needle is slightly bent and the spring is kinked, it never would turn either but I got it out finally and it really should be replaced.
Any thoughts or ideas??

Thanks,
Mike

Mike--
I'd keep an eye on eBay--you might find a carb or a parts motor cheap. Also check your Tecumseh dealer. I had a 5 hp Gamefisher (Sears) and found a manual in the library that covered a lot of small outboards, including Eska/Sears/Gamefisher, which (if I remember correctly) all used the same Tecumseh powerhead. I can't remember the Techumseh model # (I want to say 720?)

That is probably a Tillotson carb, which is fairly common on mowers and chainsaws. Take the bent needle and spring to a mower repair shop and see if they can match it.

Good luck. :)
