Re: team Canada vs team USA
I have to agree with you Lipp on the Russian angle. They barely worked their way through the Slovaks earlier on....so they are not almighty by any means.
In a tournament like this any of the top 3-4 teams have an excellent chance of turning it on and winning and in keeping with what you mentioned Lipp regarding the amount of games...none of these challenges are based on a best of 7 series level of confidence.....one good game is all it takes to quickly decide direction.
Personally, I think the biggest advantage in this tournament is coaching and having a coach that keeps the players very calm and focused. Remember, these kids are not very old yet....averaging what, 17 yrs old? so they definitely respond to guidance.....but heck, thats my two bits on it.
(Note: If I had unlimited funds, power and influence...I would have flown Brent Sutter in to Lufa this afternoon to take over the Canadian coaching duties....LOL!)
Ok, back to the U.S vs. Canada.....oh, I'm psyched!! This game rises to its own level in this tournament. Lipp, (and the other Yanks of course) would get a kick out of the national hype that surrounds this game/rivalry up here.
That said, here is a good quick read on some of the positive aspects of the U.S/Canada rivalry:
Subplots abound when Canada, U.S. meet at world juniors
So are we all staying up to watch this? I might have a quick nap to make sure I'm ready to roll.
All good
