I have a TD20 Johnson Seahorse. When I pull the starting cord nothing happens. It pulls freely. Theres 3 pieces of metal on top that move out and inward. 2 of them are missing the springs. So I took off the pull start and got out my 18volt dewalt and put a 3/4" socket on it and start the motor with it.
I have the side cover off the engine so I can see the carb. I pump the primer and see a mist spray out the back from a port that has a copper tube on it that goes to the carb. The primer button doesnt get hard no many how many times I pump it. I move the lever to start and hit the drill trigger. The engine will fire up after a second or 2 of spinning. The engine will run for 2 seconds until it uses up the fuel I pumped in with the primer. After a few times I tried pumping the primer after I got it to fire up. As long as I keep pumping the primer the engine will stay running. If I stop pressing the primer it shuts off. I tried moving the lever from start to fast and same results.
Any ideas on what to look for?
