I was driving around town today and saw a boat with the back cover up for ventilation. Instead of poles, they had two straps running front to back to keep the cover up. Does anyone know what it is or how good a product?

Re: Tarping

I just got an Overton's boating catalog in the mail and the boat cover section was full of that style of cover supports. I'd never seen it either but it looks like a pretty neat design. If you get one, let us know how it works.

I have a 21 ft runabout that has a flag pole socket on the stern. I replace the flag pole with a piece of dowel rod that is the same diameter (it fits snug in the socket and is about 18inches tall) I run a rope from the pole, over the winshield and tie it off on the bow cleat. then throw a tarp over it and tie it to the trailer..works good for me. :D

Re: Tarping

definitely need air circulation into the boat.
i made a mistake when putting my first boat
away for the winter.
i zipped up all the canvas tight, and covered
the whole boat with a trap also strapped tightly.
2 months later, when i went to use it
the whole inside was covered in mildew.
took me a week to clean it all out.
