This was sent to me,does anybody know anything about it?

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

**** Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.

"Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud

sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our

spring recognition event.

We received the following reply

from the local TARGET management:

"Veterans do not meet our

area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action

groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and

veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria,

then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were

not asking for thousands of dollars, not ev en hundreds, just

a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate

Headquarters and their response was the same.

That's their

national policy.

Then I looked into the company further.

They will not allow

the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their

stores. And during the recent Iraqdeployment, they would

not allow families of employees who were called up for

active duty to continue their insurance coverage while

they were on military service. Then as I dig further,

TARGET

is a French-owned corporation.

Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American

Veterans, then why should my family and I support their

stores by spending our hard earned American dollars!

And,

have their profits sent to France.

Without the American

Vets, where would Francebe today?

"They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks"

Sincerely,

**** Forrey

Veterans Helping Veterans

Please send this on to everyone you know

to let Target know

we don't need them either

_______

Re: Target stores??

That's a very controversial view for a store like Target to stand behind. It sounds like controversial B.S. to me. I have trouble believing the story is true. If it is, it's terrible!

Every year our office rings the bell at the Salvation Army Kettles. Virtually everyone in the office takes a shift. We even take our sons and daughters along to pass out candy.

We've always stood at the entrance of Target.

Until last year, when access was denied.

JC Penney graciously allowed us to continue our tradition in front of their store.

it's true they don't let the salvation army take collections there, they said it's because too many charities wanted to set up shop at their doors.

walmarts will allow it but not more than 14 days total or 3 consecutive days.

I haven't been in a Target since they stopped selling fishing stuff years ago. When I asked what happened to everything, I was told that fishing was bad for the environment and Target no longer stocked those items. Haven't been in one since.

Re: Target stores??

Target is proud of their giving back to the communities programs. I used to work at one, and enter a Target store maybe once a year. I would rather take their ad to Meijer or Walmart than to shop there. I hate Target stores because of the way I was treated as not only an employee, but also as a customer. and it was all at the store level, not the corporate level. I had court ordered visistation with my oldest son on Wednesdays and Sundays. I worked 40+ hours/wk. I was told I could not have Sundays off, store policy. I wrote to corporate and complained. Corporate called and told the personnel manager "You WILL give this man Ssundays off to spend with his child." I got Sundays off, and all of a sudden they couldn't schedule me more than 24 hours/wk. And that is only one of the horror stories of working at Target.
