I am wondering if it is possible to tap my '83 merc 120 for a small heater core. It is raw freshwater cooled. I would like to tap in a small core to provide a little heat for the hands and for the kids to warming up infront of for late season fishing on the lakes. I am capable of building the thing but not sure where if at all to tap the engine to get water and where to return.

TIA

PS it has an Alpha 1 drive if it matters.

I've hooked up many heaters on V6 and V8 engines, but never tried on a 120 or 140, but here is the info from the service manual.

Thanks Don. That is exactly what I needed. Hopefully I don't have to drill and tap but will if I have too.

i'm considering the same idea...

i know on my L6 i got the capped off outlet and the pipe plug on the tstat housing. i think i'd have to tap w/o going and looking...

I have a new heater core for my Safari van that I never ended up using. Was planning on using that. Not sure on the fan but possibly a bilge blower.
