I just noticed that Harbor Freight has ammo boxes on sale right now, with a coupon for $4.99 , if you order online you just need the code, which is 53614816 and the shipping for all 8 boxes that I bought was only $6.99 so 8 boxes for $46.91. Pretty good considering the Big C store wants $14.99 per box, I checked yesterday, when it comes to ammo boxes, most of them are pretty good, it is just the chore to hunt them down and find the lowest price.

MT I honestly don't know what I managed to get all mine. But I have acquired a lot of ammo containers over the years. Some are small or the standard size and others are wider. But a do have a few. Lots of time the typical surplus military ammo boxes have one of the hinge pins missing. They still work okay, but one is missing. But with a little correct size rod, or even a correctly sized nail cut to fit, they can easily be repairs. JMHO!

My Harbor Freight doesn't have metal ones anymore. Just plastic ones.

Harbor Freight company headquarters is around 1000ft from my office. I know someone who works there so I can always ask what's up.

These are the exact same boxes, I looked at when at C****belas the other day and they are normal sized box, I looked at the metal boxes the other day at the Army/Navy store and for the prices they wanted, they were way to beat up, so these will work just fine, my wife has a way of knocking things off that are stacked up, which she did with dozens of boxes of ammo, so I figured it was time to get some boxes, that way I can put them in the storage shed instead of on top the gun safe!..

Wow bruceb, that close to such a place and having a friend work there, you probably get 22's with relative ease. :thumb:

MT Guy, You wife's knocking things down story makes me think of a little situation I once had happen to me many many many moons ago. I was working at a store called Whites. It was very similar to a Western Auto type store about the same time frame. And I was working in the sporting goods/gun department. I was so young at the time, that I couldn't even legally sell hand guns. So if a customer wanted one, I had to get an older sells person for that sell.

But one evening I was scrubbing the floors in my area with one of those scrubber/buffer machines. With a lot of soapy water on the floors already, that machine got out of hand and hit the cabinet where we had a lot of boxes of "Nimrod" 22's stacked up on display. And as murphy's law would have it, I dumped all those boxes down on the wet soapy floor. 22's were everywhere. Shorts, longs, long rifle 22's mixed everywhere.

So I had to take each shell and wipe it off and figure out which box I had to put it in. Long rifle and longs were pretty close in size and that took a long time drying them off and getting them all back in their boxes again. We never had any complains from the boxes sold, so I guess they all worked okay. :noidea:

I honestly wish I could buy those Nimrod 22's today for what they sold for back then. I honestly have no idea which 22 manufacturer was supplying those shell to Whites. But they did shoot well.

I have a few cans. They all came with either ammo I bought or brass I bought (I reload). The gun shows usually have a vendor or 2 that sell bulk ammo and you get to keep the box.
