I have a 2001 seaswirl 2600WA, I need to take off a trailer for maintenance. Does anyone have any ideas. Is this to big of a boat or should I let a marina pull it off.

If it's practical, the easiest way to take a boat off of a trailer is to launch it . . . Get a slip for a couple of days if possible, do your trailer maintenance and . . . well you can figure out the rest ;)

I think 26 ft is out of most folks DIY comfort range
:)

You would need a LOT of blocking and HELP

tommays

On a twenty six footer please don't use cinder blocks they have been know to collapse if you follow the instruction in the parallel post.

pointer, you think cinder blocks with boat jack stands on each side of the transom for extra support might work? QC I should have specified the maintainence is to be done on the boat ,my fault.

What sort of maintainence needs doing that requires the boat be Removed from the Trailer,..????....

Bottom Paint can be applied by shifting the boat forward,+ rearward a few inches,..........
Which is Awhole Lot Easier than pulling the boat Off the Wagon..........
Same goes for Most glass work......

Re: taking a boat off a trailer

I did this on my Grady 28 with 2 stands and a bunch of 6x6 blocking. My experience is that you will be presented with 2 problems
1 - A way of slowly pulling the trailer out while you move blocking and jacks... my trailer weighs in at 3000 lbs and is a bear to move by hand... using the truck just is not controllable as I was doing this alone.
2 - A flat, straight line distance in front of the boat to pull the trailer. In order to clear the front blocking you will be 2/3 rds past the boat with the trailer.

Find out where to block the front before starting to prevent damage to the hull. Oh, and the idea is to lift the boat off the trailer and slowly move the trailer from under the boat.... don't let anyone talk you in to "tying it to a tree"
