Gonna take a bite out of summer gas prices with this little gem. Boat and trailer (with new lights and tires) cost me $350 all in. She's a little aluminum Petrel, made in Toronto in the seventies probably. She's pretty scruffy but some paint (maybe soda blast and etch prime first?) and some time replacing the only two pieces of wood on her (transom motor mount and centre board box top), hang a pirate flag (my six year old's suggestion) and we will be sailing in fine style.
Already been out once which must have been a laugh to watch from shore. A 30 year-old sailboat rigged by a guy who hasn't sailed in twenty years. Oh I was in fine form! Had a good time though, she doesn't leak a drop, and of course total profit to the oil barons that day....big, fat, ZERO!
Hauling her to the lake
In the water
Home port (water a little high ya think?!)
