I recently sold my boat, but looking for something to fish off of that is simple. It must be stable to stand and walk around in ( I realize space is limited), and I would like it to be dry as possible in a small chop (Galveston Bay, 1-2'). Down to a Takacat 380/420 model probably with a 20hp as weight is same as a 10hp, or a Sea Eagle FSK 16 with a 6hp. I recognize the Sea Eagle will be slower with a smaller motor, but also lighter to move the motor around. Both boats are about the same weight although the Takacat comes in 2 bags to distribute the weight better.
Anyone go down this rabbit hole? Which is drier and more stable? I definitely need a Bimini of some sort for this Texas heat. It is mostly just me fishing on it (185 pounds) although sometimes a friend will come ( perhaps a little heavier) or one of my kids.
I have a boat slip with a jet dock, or I can deflate it each time.
Ride and stability and fishability are the big factors for me along with reliability.
Thanks!
