Im looking into buy a 2013 Q4 sf. I have researched a lot on this motor and have found mixed reviews about its power (hard to find reviews where motor was in tahoe Q4). Im wondering if i will be satisfied in with this boat? Would i be able to pull a grown man on a wakeboard with boat full of people or does it not have enough power??? Thanks in advance

The motor has been in use since 1968, so yes it's a reliable engine.
Have no clue about what a Q4 is, but any boat full of people and trying to pull a wakeboard is probably a tad more than a 3.0L is going to be capable of doing. Go for the 4.3L or larger options if available. No one complains about to much power.

Since you're buying new and have the option, get a 4.3L. You're never gonna hear people complaining about having too much power, but you'll see plenty wishing they had more. And yes, you'll have to move up to the Q5 to get a 4.3 I believe.

If price is the limiting factor, and you must get a Q4, I think the 3.0L will still be adequate for most situations since thats the MPI version and its a light hull. But a boat full of people and an adult wakeboarder? I dunno... That much load might suck the fun out of it.

Everyone who buys a 3.0 liter wishes they had the 4.3! The only reason they buy the 3.0 is to keep the price low to make it more attractive to potential first time boat buyers. That's why you see so many 3.0 liters in the used area. People just don't find they have the power. 135hp compared to 190hp... Big difference! Get the 4.3,

Agreed that a 4.3 would be better. But, pulling up a wakeboard is far easier then a slalom skier. Much wider surface area and you are "up" at about 15-18 mph as opposed to about about 22-25 mph for a slalom. More comparable to pulling a skier on two skis. Should be able to get up an adult even with a few on board.

Doesn't take any power at all to pull a wakeboarder. We've got no problem pulling them up with 5 people in a 3.0L powered 195.

Slalom will be more painful and require a good skier to get up. Slalom speeds are generally 28-34 which is no problem, it is just getting out of the water that is tough.

I agree, we wakeboard all the time off our 3.0L and it's great! I've tried pulling a Slalom skiier a few times and my boat just doesnt have it:(. Overall for a light hull like the Q4 or a Stingray like mine 19ft or under, it's a good application. Im pretty impressed with the power and speed. (raced my friends 24ft bayliner last week with his 5.0MPI and we were dead even to the low 40's where we both maxed out).
