tack issues

got a 83 bartta 16' with a 120 mer.... tac. did not work when got it, hooked it up and it tacks out all the way (probably why unhooked) but will a regular tac. work just put it on 4 cly. should be the same right? and at wot what should be the rpms thank for any info.

Ayuh,... An automotive tach will work,...

Look for 4000/ 4400 rpms at wot....

got tac in and hooked up, running right at 3600 rpm at wot so would this be to low

Ayuh,... At 3600 rpms at wot, she's Luggin',... Really Bad...

It either needs a Tune Up, or a smaller prop...

had a 20 pitch 14 1/4 dim. turbo prop run at 3600 rpm put a quick sivler 21 pitch 12 somthing dimeter its stamped but in code or somthing getting a little over 4100 rpm water real ruff white capping only held wot for few sec.s........going to get better reading in calmer water

Ayuh,... Was it ventilating to beat 'ell,..??

That sounds like a mid-sized case Outboard prop...

Ya probably need a 19"... Maybe a 17"...

Ayuh,... Was it ventilating to beat 'ell,..?? if this means what i call blowing out prop spining faster than it pulling water threw or calvtation it was doing that. so i thinking of the 17 pitch.thanks for the info..
