Re: Tachometer won't register RPM's
Check to see if your charging system is working. The tach relys on the charging system for it's signal for readings. Take a battery reading with a voltmeter when the motor is not running and then take another with it running at about 2000 RPM's. If there is no change, the regulator is probably shot. If it does change, I'd borrow a known good tach and try that. If it works, you've found the problem. I believe that force requires a 20 pole tach. So not just any tach will work on these. Check all the wires at the gauge to be sure they are tight and corrosion free, too.
