I have a 1998 Carolina skiff Seachaser with a carbureted 150hp Mariner motor. My problem is at idle my tach shows 3000rpm.Where do I begin to fix this problem?Ive checked connectios on the tach side and they seem tight.I dont know where the wires connect on the engine side though. The tach is a teleflex brand and is 2 years old.

yo loggerhead

>Check with a voltmeter to see if you have a good pos. supply and ground to the tach.

>Try repositioning the pole selector switch back and forth a few times to reseat a possible bad connection.

Does the tach read right at higher speeds?
What is the battery voltage when it reads high?
