Got my rig working after a long battle with a defective throttle postion switch. Thanks OBJ. Now that it runs and operates well, I would like to keep it that way - how difficult would it be to install a tachometer. Its a 1969 Johnson 40 HP 2 cylinder manual shift. Thanks for the help.
bdub

Check your wire diagram and see if you have the grey (I think it's grey) wire running to the contol box. From there you can connect extend the wire to connect to any O/B tach.

Angus63 is right about the tiny tach. It is digital and works off the spark plug wire. But if you want a traditional round needle pointer guage then the tach output feed from the motor is needed. Teleflex comes to mind as having a budget minded line of tachs.
